Follow these tips to keep your piece in excellent condition:
General Care
- Avoid Excess Moisture: Wipe spills immediately and avoid submerging your piece in water. Prolonged exposure to moisture can affect the wood's durability.
- Clean Gently: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean your item. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbing pads that may damage the finish.
- Keep Away from Heat: Do not place your piece near direct heat sources or in prolonged sunlight, as this may cause warping or discoloration.
For Items Finished with Lacquer
- Dust Regularly: Use a microfiber cloth to keep the surface clean.
- Avoid Scratches: Use coasters or pads under heavy or sharp objects.
- Polishing: If desired, apply a non-abrasive wood polish occasionally to maintain the shine.
For Items Finished with Odie's Oil
- Reconditioning: Over time, if the surface looks dull, reapply a small amount of food-safe oil or wax. Buff gently with a clean cloth to restore its luster.
- Food-Safe Cleaning: For serving boards, wipe gently with mild soap and water, then dry immediately. Never put these items in the dishwasher.
